The partners of TU concept GmbH

A strong ecosystem at the interface of science, business and the start-up world is of central importance for the future of the region as a whole. Only strong partners in all three areas can create an ecosystem that can help shape the future.

With one of the leading technical universities in Germany, science in the region is very well positioned with TU Dortmund. In addition, the CET, together with the TU capital investment fund, offers unique opportunities for regional start-ups. This complements the TU concept with its focus on the regional economy. This creates an ecosystem that covers all areas and creates great added value for the region.

Since its foundation 52 years ago, the Technical University of Dortmund has gained a special profile with 17 faculties in natural and engineering sciences, social and cultural sciences. The university has around 33,440 students and 6,500 employees, including around 300 professors. The range of courses includes around 80 degree programs, including classical as well as innovative subjects, some unique offerings and a broad-based teacher training for all types of schools. The various scientific disciplines are united by a university spirit in which interdisciplinarity and interaction, communication and cooperation are practiced. As a result, technological innovation, progress in methods and knowledge are virtually programmed at the TU Dortmund.

The Center for Entrepreneurship & Transfer (CET) at TU Dortmund University supports and accompanies start-ups in all phases, offers courses and workshops on the topics of entrepreneurship, technology and innovation and stimulates the transfer of technology and knowledge from science into practice. With our measures, we want to establish a new start-up spirit in Dortmund, the Westphalian Ruhr region and South Westphalia, strengthen the local innovative power and thus make the region sustainably fit for the future.

In addition to the Center for Entrepreneurship and Transfer (CET) and the Start-up Foundation of Dortmund Universities, TU capital is another pillar of start-up support at TU Dortmund University. It extends the support for start-ups from the university by funding and mentoring start-ups that, in the best case, have gone through the programs of the CET. It thus works closely with the CET and the Technology Transfer Office of Tu Dortmund. As a limited partnership, companies or private investors can participate as limited partners in the TU capital investment fund and thus support start-ups from their own region.
